At the White House this weekend at the Governors convention, many states said they want tougher border enforcement. "From states like Utah, Missouri, Tenessee and Vermont governors said immigrants are costing states dollars and spurring legislation."
Arizona, a state where 500,000 attempts to illegally cross were turned back and an untold amount got through, Dem. Gov. J. Napolitano said "Taxpayers are absorbing the costs of incarcerating, health care and education for illegal immigrants." Nationally there is an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants.
It will be interesting to see the Republican candidates stance on this issue. I think this will become a big issue in this election.

S. I think maybe he thought this would be an easy race just because of his name recognition. I think that if he doesn't start getting any support he most likely will not win the primary, the only thing he may do is take votes away from his other republican party candidates.

S. He has not been able to raise as much in campaign funds as his other opponent Len Munsil has. If you check on his website www.goldwater4governor.org he still is not listing any supporters, and the latest news on the the website shows nothing from November 14, 2005 to the present. I think that reflects the fact that their really hasn't been anything positive going on in the campaign.

S. The repulican party has not yet come up with any overly favorable candidates and a new republican challenger, Len Munsil, who entered the race only last month may have a good chance of gaining votes and could really become a challenge to Don Goldwater. www.azstarnet.com

Don Goldwaters web site still lists a blank page under supporters. Newcomer to the republican race, Len Munsil, seems to be fairing better by reaching his maximum contribution under the law. www.azcentral.com

So far it seems the race for governor in Arizona is strongly democratic. This will be a tough race to win if the republicans don't come up with a solid candidate. They also need to come up with a clear agenda on their issues because right now it doesn't seem that they have one. The biggest issue being made so far has been illegal immigration, which seems to be a praticularly vulnerable subject against the current Democratic governor.

S.
